Pairing the flowscope app

In most setups the flowscope desktop app arrives on your managed computer on its own (if your organization chose self-install, start at Installing flowscope yourself), and connecting it is a single step you do once. There is no new password: you sign in with the work account you already use.

What the app shows

The app opens on two cards. The left one is this computer, the right one is capture. Together they answer the only two questions the app has: is this computer connected, and is anything being recorded. Until you finish the step below, they read not connected and off.

What is recorded, at the bottom of the window, lists what flowscope records and what it does not. It is there whenever you want it, and the answer never changes:

• Recorded: the apps your company added and how long you use them, what you click on, the text you enter, copy, or paste in those apps, and active time outside them, duration only.
• Not recorded: your individual keystrokes; your passwords, ever; what you do in apps outside your company's list; and personal sites like banking or health, even when they are added.

The one-time sign-in

You do this once. The app shows a short code, and you type that code into flowscope in your browser.

1. In the app, on the This computer card, click Pair with a code instead.

2. The card shows an eight-character code. Leave the window open.

3. Click Open flowscope on the card (or open the link your admin emailed you) and sign in with your work account, the same address your admin invited. There is no new password; you sign in the way you already do for other work tools.
4. The first time, the browser shows a short usage agreement covering what is recorded and what is not. Accept it to continue. You will not see it again.
5. Enter the code from step 2. flowscope then names the computer that asked to pair. Check that it is yours, then choose Yes, approve it.

6. The This computer card shows Connected.

The code lasts ten minutes and works once. If it expires, click Pair with a code instead again for a fresh one. Use any browser you like: the code is what connects the two, so it does not matter which browser opened your email. You will not be asked to sign in again day to day, and there is nothing else to install or approve.
